I am a Toronto-based private tutor and academic editor. I started tutoring and editing in 2007; in 2013, I began working as a private tutor and academic editor full time.
I have an MSc in Medical Science, with a focus on neuroscience and molecular genetics, and an Honours BSc in Neuroscience. You can view the full list of courses I took during my degrees here.
During my undergraduate degree, I received the NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award to work on a project investigating the molecular basis of long-term memory; the results of the work I contributed to were later published in Nature Neuroscience. Around the same time, I also assisted with a neuroimaging study that was later published in NeuroImage. In addition to doing science outreach (ScienceRendezvous and ThinkFirst Brain Day), I was a review board manager for the University of Toronto Journal of Undergraduate Life Sciences (JULS) and a science journalist and later news and features editor for the Journal of Young Investigators.
During my MSc, I received the Julie Payette NSERC Scholarship, which is awarded to the top 24 master’s level applicants across Canada for outstanding academic excellence, research ability, leadership, and communication skills. In addition to researching C. elegans neurobiology, I was a writer and editor and then assistant managing editor at IMS Magazine and served as copy chief for the University of Toronto Medical Journal. I was also a tutor for the Saturday Program and senior volunteer at SciHigh.
